The Amalinda Collection - Ivory Lodge

Situated on a private concession of 6000 acres in the Sikumi forest area, which lies adjacent to Hwange National Park, Ivory offers 9 tree-house style rooms of which two are presidential suites, all on raised platforms and each with their view of the Ivory waterhole.  The treehouses are built high on stilts, with partially open sides that give views down over the waterhole. Simple but very comfortable, they have twin or double beds (with a mosquito net over each), a ceiling fan, a table and a couple of wooden chairs. There's an en-suite bathroom up here, too, with a washbasin, large shower, toilet and a set of shelves for storage.

In similar style, the Presidential Elephant Suites are also elevated, designed to be at eye level with any large animal visitors that may come into the camp. Each has a double bed (with a mosquito net) facing towards the waterhole, as well as a balcony with the same view. Gauze windows allow through a breeze, and there's also a fan. Each suite also has a balcony. In the en-suite bathroom, set behind the bedroom, a port-hole-sized window next to the bath has views over the surrounding bush and down towards the pan and waterhole. There's also an indoor shower.

Ivory offers a unique experience for travellers to appreciate Hwange's abundant wildlife species and watch the dynamics of the famous Presidential Elephant Herd as they roam freely through our savanna grasslands, soaking up the hot African sun and protecting their tough, wrinkled hides in thick mud at our waterhole.

Ivory is situated 2.5kms off the main Victoria Falls/Bulawayo Road and is accessible for all self-drive vehicles. The nearest commercial airports are Victoria Falls which is 2.5 hours drive away and Bulawayo International which is 3 hours drive away. Hwange airport is 8kms away but only accommodates private air charters.
