The Mavuradonha wilderness area is part of an unspoiled wildlife sanctuary measuring 575 square kilometres. It is located in the Mount Darwin district of Mashonaland Central province. The wilderness area also encompasses the Mavuradonha Mountains which form part of the Zambezi escarpment. The mountain area is rugged terrain that offers beautiful views. It comprises many interesting relief forms, including streams, rivers, valleys, and age-old elephant paths which make great hiking trails. The area is perfect for photographic safaris and walking safaris.
This location is much cooler than the surrounding areas because of the northeasterly winds and the high altitude. This is the beautiful backdrop of Kopje Tops Camp, a small eco-friendly self-catering camp that has 5 thatched lodges that can accommodate 10 guests in all.
Visit Kopje Tops for a unique nature retreat in this wildlife area. The camp’s power source is generator power and it is switched on for a few hours in the evening and switched off at night. Drinking water comes from a nearby perennial spring. There is a boiler that ensures guests have hot water. This lodge gives guests a chance to live a minimalist life. Meals can be made using a braai grid but a gas cooker is also available. The camp has a fully equipped kitchen, the beds in the rooms have all soft furnishings, and towels are provided. The rates also cover the services of a cook, guard, and camp hand for basic chores, starting fires, working the boiler, etc. Should guests require a chef, one can be provided for an extra fee of US$20 per day.
Leisure activities to look forward it in the area include game drives (in your own vehicles), hiking, swimming in nearby streams, cycling, visits to nearby cultural heritage sites. Guests are advised there are a few zebra in the camp and they may approach. Wild animals like hyenas, leopards, etc may pass through the camp at night and guests are to exercise caution.
